Early Life and Career

Jason Miller was born in Queens, New York, in 1939, the son of a machinist and a homemaker. He began acting at an early age, and after graduating from high school, he attended the Catholic University of America, where he studied drama.

That Championship Season

Miller's breakthrough came in 1972 with his play That Championship Season, which won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Play. The play tells the story of five former high school basketball players who reunite ten years after their championship victory. The play was praised for its realistic dialogue and its insightful exploration of the themes of friendship, loyalty, and betrayal.
